The Prist University is one of the private universities of the Tamilnadu state. The university is known as the ponnaiyah ramajayam institute of science and technology. The university is situated in the Thanjavur district of the Tamilnadu state. The university was established in the year 1998 by the act of the government of the Tamilnadu state to provide education facilities in the technology field. The university is spread in a large area of land.
The university is recognized by the university grant commission (UGC). The university is approved by the all India council for technical education (AICTE) and accredited by the national assessment and accreditation council (NAAC). The university is providing education facilities in the under graduation, post graduation, distance learning education and research education courses. The university is providing these courses in the engineering and technology, arts and science, management studies, education and pharmacy departments.

In the semester pattern the university conducts university exams two times in a year. The university conducts even semester exams in the may month and odd semester exams in the November month.
