The SASTRA is one of the universities of the Tamil Nadu state. The full name of the university is shanmugha arts, science and technology & research academy. The university is a deemed university in the town thirumalaisamudram, Thanjavur district of the Tamil Nadu state. The university was established in the year 1984 by the act of Tamil Nadu state. the university is spread in a large area of 168 acres of land.
The university is recognized by the university grant commission (UGC). The University is providing education facilities for both under graduation and post graduation courses. The university is providing education in many different departments of arts, education, science, engineering and many others. Many different colleges of the tamil nadu state are affiliated with the university.

Every year thousands of the students take admission in the university. The university conducts annual university exam in the end of the annual session. The university mainly conducts the exams in the April month. After the exams students who appear in the exam eagerly wait for the result.
