The Assam University is one of the public education universities of the Assam state. The university was established in the year 1994 by the government of the Assam state. The university is situated in the Silchar district of the Assam state. The Assam University is first among the all central universities of the India. The university is spread in a large area of 600 acres of land in Dorogakana which is 20 km from the Silchar district. The university was established by the act of the Assam state to provide education facilities to the students for the development and betterment of the nation.
The university is recognized by the university grant commission (UGC). The university is also a member of the Global universities network for innovation (GUNI), Barcelona and United Nations global compact (UNGC). The university is providing education facilities for both under graduation and post graduation courses. The university has 16 different schools which are providing education facilities in the field of Social science, humanities, languages, life sciences, physical sciences, environmental sciences, information sciences, technology and management studies.

Every year many students take admission in the university and getting education facilities. The university conducts the annual university exams for these students in the June month every year.
